Working On An Off Grid Maple Syrup Evaporator

Working on the off grid maple syrup evaporator in my pallet sugar shack. I am building a maple syrup evaporator using an old wood stove as the boiler.

I had started taking apart the old wood stove by removing the top heat shielding. Next I placed the stainless steel boiler pans on top of the wood stove to see how they will fit.

I drew a line around them to mark where to cut into the top of the wood stove.

Using my reciprocating saw I cut out the places for the maple syrup evaporator pans to fit into place.

This took some time but I managed to get the cuts done.

I had one problem with the middle piece of the stove top. This was only pressed on and when I was making the final cuts, it fell off. I could not finish cutting that part so I just bent it out of the way for now.

I will have to cut a piece of metal to fit in there later to make a seal between the two maple syrup evaporator pans. This will help keep the stove working properly and ensure a good draft out the stove pipe.

In the evening I had a nice meal inside my off grid tiny house on wheels. I had some stir fry in a cast iron frying pan. I ate the whole batch of it too after such a hard day of work.
