Homestead Gardening Interuppted By Badly Needed Rain

The garden has been growing nicely but so are the weeds. I am putting down leaves in between the plants to prevent weeds and preserve moisture in the soil.

I was using my Ryobi cultivator to tear out the weeds in between the rows and between the plants in the garden. The weeds are a thick carpet on the ground now. We have been out weeding constantly but the weeds just keep coming up faster than we can pluck them out.

The Ryobi cultivator works surprisingly well. It works the earth nicely in between the plants and it is very easy to use.

After that I started to put down the leaves but got interrupted by rain.

We had a very dry year so far and we have had to go to the creek for water two times already. So when it rained we were all very happy to see it.
