Goats Arrived ~ Escaped ~ Fixing Fence ~ Roofing Goat Shed

This video was recorded over a couple days. I was still recovering my health so work was going slow for me out here on the off grid homestead.

We got our goats delivered and the lady who brought them over was quite impressed with our shelter and fencing. She figured that we have space for four goats in here now with no problem.

Trucker Buck and his son were here for the delivery of the goats.

Chris is daily shoveling out the pen area and putting the goat waste on the compost bin. This is valuable stuff and we do not want to lose any of it by the goats trampling it into the earth.

The goats have full time access to fresh green hay which they eat any time they want. They also get goat feed during milking time twice a day. And they get various browsing foods during the day.

The goats are very happy and love people very much. They love us so much that they broke out a few times in the first couple days in attempt to be closer to us. It is actually cute but we had to reinforce the fencing a whole lot more in order to keep the goats inside. We expected this though so it was no surprise.

I had just tossed up the pallets on the rafters of the goat barn when we built it. Now I went up on the roof and screwed them securely with deck screws. They are not going to move at all now.

I then put on the plastic roofing that I had laying around. I had planned to use some on the wood shed and I think I still have enough left for that as well.

Chris helped me by feeding up the sheets as I needed them. The entire 8 foot roof was easily covered by only four of the roofing sheets.

We will cut the longer edges later. We were in a hurry this day because rain was on its way and we wanted to keep the goats dry and safe and keep the food dry.

Chris and I feel pretty good about the goat shed and fencing now.
