Bulkhead Wood Install in my E450 Ambulance | Ambulance Conversion Life

I spent a day installing vinyl wood planking on the bulkhead partition of my E450 Ambulance and show you the condition of the cab after cleaning it (boy it needed it). Lefty hangs out with me all day and decides to chew on the biggest battery cables I've ever seen!

installation process:

1: I removed any protrusions on the wall being covered. The screws that held the panel in place all had a trim ring on them that stuck up about 1\8". I removed the trim ring then sunk the screws in deep enough that the heads were flush with the wall surface.
2: I cleaned the wall with a 50/50 mix of Krud Kutter and water to remove dust, grime, etc. then dried.
3: I made initial measurements of the are being covered to calculate the number of vinyl being used.
4: I cut the vinyl planking using a razor blade tool.
5: this was adhesive backed planking but I found that the adhesive wasn't strong enough to hold it on a vertical surface.
6: I peeled the adhesive backing liner, then applied Gorilla glue construction adhesive onto the plank back. I imagine that any construction adhesive would work as well but I liked the quick set of the Gorilla brand.
7: After applying the adhesive I put the plank into position and rubbed it with pressure (by hand) to spread the glue.
8: Once that was done I'd move on to the next plank and I didn't have any problems with them falling off the wall.

That was the (easy) process for installation. One tip I have is to cut the plank from the back side, using a straight edge, and after 2cuts you're able to snap the plank the rest of the way with a very clean edge. This is much quicker than cutting all the way through - which can take 10 cuts! (found that out after already cutting almost all of them)... 🙁
