All the prominent pioneers and leaders of the Age of Enlightenment had links to the Freemasonry movement, where the principles of Enlightenment intertwined with the principles of Freemasonry, and thus were supported by Masonic lodges, which quickly turned into a means of transmitting liberal thought and spreading the concepts of private property and freedom
