Wall Street saw a “disappointing” night on Friday while United States investors are “spooked” by the latest hot inflation report, according to CommSec’s Ryan Felsman.

“We saw US investors spooked by a hot inflation report and also at the same time worries about an aggressive lift in interest rates from the US Federal Reserve,” Mr Felsman told Sky News Australia.

“After its preferred measure of inflation, the Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index lifted to 5.4 per cent annualised in January and in the core measure that lifted 4.7 per cent.

“So a reacceleration in inflation after a couple of months of declines.”
