Thousands Of Ukrainian Protesters Gather At Russian Embassy In DC Against War

Protesters outside of the Russian embassy in Washington D.C. on Friday (February 24) waved Ukrainian flags, sang patriotic songs and chanted “Russia is a terrorist state” to mark the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers on both sides are believed to have died since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion, saying it was necessary to protect Russia's security.

A giant Ukrainian flag was projected onto the Russian embassy, as protesters wrapped in flags and holding sunflowers, Ukraine’s national flower, held a vigil to commemorate the grim one-year milestone.
