Watchful, Ready and Faithful

On this day, Bob preached this message out of Matthew 24:32-51.

After going over a few updates, Bob opened in prayer and began reading from scripture.

Bob reviewed where the congregation had been in the book of Matthew before moving forward in this portion of scripture and reviews what happens in the beginning of this chapter (24)

10:20 Jesus picks up the text in verse 32, and he tells them a parable to help describes the time of readiness and and the time of ripeness of these events and when they will occur.

The Parable of the Fig Tree
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that [a]it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

11:39 in essence, Jesus is saying, when you have seen all the things I've already spoken of (in the first half of Matthew 24) the plagues, the pestilences, the wars, the persecution, the false messiahs, and the abomination of desolation, when you see all these things, you know that summer is near. Summer is a time of harvest, and harvest, when you go back prophetically in the word of God, is
a time when God is going to judge the nations.

12:02 He is going to gather his people so that's the great harvest.

12:06 so Jesus says, when you see all these things that He has already spoken of, related to the first 3.5 years of the Great Tribulation, he says KNOW that It is near. It's right at the door.

12:20 What is he referring too when he says "It" because people have been confused about what "it" means. Scripture, interpreting scripture is the best way to find the answer and if we go to the parallel passage in Luke 21:31, Luke is describing these very same events and this very same dialogue and he says, when you see these things happening, know that the Kingdom of God is near.

12:49 so now we know what the "It" is he is referring too. What it is near, is the kingdom of God which means the reign and rule of Christ is about to take place which means that Jesus Christ is going to make an appearance .

No One Knows the Day or Hour
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of [b]heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what [c]hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what [d]hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant
45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food [e]in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying [f]his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
