I feel very exited about this song. The reason is that I have been trying to craft the skills necessary to do this type of track. One of my all time favorite albums is enter Into the Dragon by Bomb the Bass.

Bomb The Bass – Into The Dragon ; Released: Oct 1988 ; Genre: Electronic, Hip Hop, Funk / Soul ; Style: Hip-House, Acid House, Freestyle

I loved the way they melded genres together and seemingly glued different songs together to somehow make a fantastic track.

I haven't seen anything like this in the Trap, Hip Hop or Electronic scene so I decided that I would attempt to make my own.

I didn't want to go down the rout of sampling etc. I didn't want to do the patchwork thing so much as to have multiple coherent blocks of song that was coherent but had multiple influences in them. I wanted a bass and drum pattern change on every one of those coherent blocks.

I came up with the bass lines first and almost approached this like building a proper song with a progressive bass line going from one block to the next.

I then used three different drum kits to put punch and flavor on the percussion. Unlike most electronica I wanted to have more Synth Pop or New Romantic drums that you might hear in those types of songs.

On a note one of the blocks has a double bass line.

I then put together the synth lines over the top most blocks have at least two or three melodies.

What I loved about the late 70s and 80s is that everything was quite fresh and new when it came to the scene and this was reflected in the vocals you would hear. I liked that you could hear unconventional vocals alongside masters of their craft. I wanted to capture this in this track.

This is a self sung Duet. Human Hacker with a AI

I did this by singing in a New Romantic off the wall type of vocal for the Insane human hacker.

To contrast the part of the even more insane AI is sung in a fairly monotone precise way to provide contrast and to stand out from the other "singer".

In this manner I could blend a kind of hip hop and synth pop vocal melody line. Sometimes both are singing together other times they have their own blocks to sing in.

To further make the changes clear the Human vocals will always include human images, whilst with one exception the AI is always depicted by a digital space or the code the hackers are working on.

Further the human will have normal subtitles whilst the AI will always be in caps lock.

The vocals are double tracked but the second vocal is turned into a fairly subtle effect that you can hear from time to time especially after the human sings.

So what influences did I pull into this track you might ask. Here are the ones my subconscious has allowed me to be aware of.

Blur
Public Enemy featuring Terminator X
Robert Miles
Depeche Mode
Offspring
Bomb The Bass
Prodigy
Also general genres like 80s Synth Pop, New Romantic, Darkwave, Proto Goth, 80s Hip Hop.

Before I sign off I was really very happy that I found the videos I did from pexels.com. Some of the lyrics are pattern based not linear but the videos allowed me to put those lyrics in context.

I am dislexic and I wanted to write the lyrics in a way that made sense to me but might be confusing to other people. I might do a video to interpret the lyrics the way I see them one day soon.

I wanted the computer to be confused, frustrated then machine like and logical. I wanted the AI hacker to be hyper to bounce around with his thoughts his panic and terror to build and his frustration of riding a tiger he cant get off.

I wanted to do this by using the Lyrics in a particular way and also sound good to the hear. The sentence might not make sense in and of itself but as a pattern and in context it would with other lyrics.

Finally I wanted the lyrics and the video to convey a sense of panic amongst the humans reacting to the AI as they realize just what its up to.

My last three songs are an allegory of what is happening in the world today and my feelings about them. However it is not for me to interperate that message but for you the viewer to do so yourself.
