Lesson Description:
When I first learned how to find guitar chords that sound good together, and finally understood WHY they sound good together, it was seriously a game changer. Since then I've developed an approach to clearly finding and seeing chords within a key on the guitar and I'd like to share that approach with you today. This fourth episode of my series called ""How to Learn Guitar Chords"" is about playing chords through a key, identifying chord degree numbers, and how to construct and practice a specific, moveable, triad chord voicing that I can promise will come in very handy. Don't miss my song examples near the end where I demonstrate how these chord shapes and this theory knowledge can be used to play and understand countless songs.

When figuring out how to learn guitar chords, and finding chords that sound good together, there's a quick way that leaves one lacking an understanding of guitar chords and there's a long way that provides music theory, technique, & fretboard knowledge needed to master chords on the guitar. I'm all about the long way. When we have control over chords on the guitar, and when we see guitar chord numbers in a key, we can logically piece together guitar chords that sound good together. After years of teaching people how to learn guitar chords and testing out tons of approaches, I've developed this method for mapping out the fretboard and deeply understanding guitar chords that sound good together within a key. Chord numbers are crucial for this process. Enjoy!
