Major blues scale guitar shapes are less often used than the minor blues scale (what we call “the blues scale). These two blues scale types are modes of each other. Here’s how to distinguish them.

LESSON DESCRIPTION:
Last week I published a lesson on how to get the blues scale down all over the guitar using a unique approach for where to place the blues notes.
What we usually just call the "blues scale" can also be called the minor blues scale.
So what about the major blues scale?
Well, the major blues scale is just a mode of the minor blues scale.
By targeting the root of the scale in a certain way you can get a very different sound.
The major blues scale sounds a little more country or bluegrass than the "normal" blues scale.
Hear how different it sounds for yourself by checking out this lesson.
And I hope you'll give the exercise a shot in your next practice session. :)
