#2 Robert Kagan, who happens to be the husband of Victoria Nuland, was a key neoconservative figure who advocated for the U.S. invasion of Iraq, relying on the false claim that the country had weapons of mass destruction.

His push for the Iraq War took place just weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the start of the US-led military campaign in Afghanistan.

"I think it's essential that we ultimately take on Iraq because Saddam Hussein is every bit an enemy of the United States as Osama Bin Laden, and he possesses weapons of mass destruction...

So, this war is going to go beyond Afghanistan."
