Brittney Griner has returned to the basketball court after spending ten months locked away in a Russian penal colony following her arrest on drug charges in Moscow last February.

Griner rejoined former WNBA side Phoenix Mercury after signing a one-year contract reportedly worth $165,000, and thanked President Biden for eventually negotiating a prisoner swap involving her and Russian businessman Viktor Bout.

“I will use my platform to do whatever I can to help you,” she said to Biden in a statement. “I also encourage everyone that played a part in bringing me home to continue their efforts to bring all Americans home.”
