On Wednesday, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto stated that the country is still willing to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) regardless of Sweden's current progress in the process. Both Finland and Sweden applied to join the alliance in May due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, however, Turkey objected to the requests, accusing them of giving refuge to "terrorists". Nevertheless, Finland is standing firm in its determination to become a member of NATO.
