Butter chicken is a classic Indian dish that is rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Here is a recipe for making butter chicken at home:

Ingredients:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup plain yogurt
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp ginger paste
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp ghee or butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp sugar
Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
Instructions:

In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, and salt. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight.

Heat the ghee or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Stir in the heavy cream and sugar and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, if desired. Enjoy with rice, naan, or other Indian breads.

Note: If you like your butter chicken spicier, feel free to adjust the amount of chili powder to your liking.
