UN representatives, human rights activists, non-governmental organisations and other experts gather at United Nations headquarters in New York on Wednesday, February 22, for a meeting entitled 'Gross Human Rights Violations due to the Aggression Against Ukraine'.

The stated aim of the discussions is to formulate an overview of 'the grave violations of the human rights situation by the Russian Federation during its war against Ukraine since 2014 and particularly during the year of a full-scale invasion.'

Moscow has strongly denied claims of human rights violations and has rejected the characterisation of what it calls the 'special military operation'.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba is expected to open the session.
