It never ceases to amaze me how significant historic items have been treated. Like the Star Spangled Banner that Francis Scott Key observed flying over Ft. McHenry being cut up for souvenirs. Fortunately, what's left can be seen at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Plus a cool American Revolution gunboat that was recovered 150 years later. Always learning!
