My Charts Went Flying! - US Navy EA-18G Launch off the Bow and Clearing Turn - Taste the Jet Fuel…

EA-18G Growler catapult shot off the TR (CVN-71) somewhere in the Arabian Gulf in 2017. This was a MAX power Case I launch off catapult 2 on a day training sortie.

You can see that catapult 1 (the catapult immediately to my right) was undergoing maintenance, so the handler had jets stacked up near it. Space is premium on the flight deck.

After I launch, you see me execute a clearing turn to the right, then back to the left. This is a visual signal to other aircraft in the pattern that I intend to depart the pattern.

As you can see, I need to find a better place to put my charts.

All in a day's work.

Thanks for watching. Fly Navy!
