NIGHT CARRIER TRAP - US Navy EA-18G Cockpit View Case III Recovery - Unedited, Unafraid, and Dark

EA-18G Growler Case III night recovery aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). This was a manual pass on the backside of a 7-hour sortie. I caught the 3 wire and lived to fly another day.

Before we commence on the CV-1 approach at night, we dim our HUD and displays as much as possible, so out eyes adjust and we can break out the ship early. You can see how my GoPro has trouble seeing my displays. It actually is that dark in the cockpit.

After I trap, you see my director turn his wands on and tell via me hand signals to release my brakes, fold my wings, get my hook up, and turn right.

Once I clear the landing area (LA) , I am spotted near the tower. Only the tanker recovered after me. This was the last cycle of the night.

If you can excuse me now, I need to find a quiet place to have an aneurysm before I stuff my face with waffles and go to sleep.
