Watch an excerpt from the film Maidan: Road to War (2022) to see the chronology of the events of the bloody February in Kiev.

20 February. On this day, nine years ago (2014), the European Union acted as a guarantor in the agreement signed by the Ukrainian authorities and the opposition. The document was supposed to stop the political crisis in the country and what was happening in the streets of Kiev: mass riots, shootings, and deaths.

But the very next day, despite guarantees from the West, there was a coup d'état in the country. European politicians saw the conflict between Kiev and Donbass escalating. They assured them they were against war and offered their help in the Minsk agreements.

The West no longer hides the fact that it was only a plan to buy time to pump Ukraine with weapons. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel speaks openly about this in an interview with a German newspaper: ‘The Minsk Agreement in 2014 was an attempt to give Ukraine time. It also used this time to become stronger, as you can see today.’
