Knock at the Cabin, 2023, Summary

Wen, a seven-year-old girl, is on vacation with her adoptive parents, Eric and Andrew, in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Wen is approached by a mysterious stranger named Leonard during her stay. Leonard, who is initially charming, explains that he needs Wen and her parents' help to save the world. While the two are catching grasshoppers together, Wen becomes suspicious when three other people arrive with makeshift weapons. Wen flees to warn Eric and Andrew, but the visitors break into the cabin and tie them up, causing Eric to suffer a concussion.

Leonard and his companions-Sabrina, Adriane, and Redmond-claim to have never met before today and have no intention of harming the family, but they have been compelled to find the family by visions and an unknown power in the last week. The group predicts an impending apocalypse in which oceans will rise, a plague will descend, the sky will fall, and finally an unending darkness will descend. This can only be avoided if the family sacrifices one of their own. They are warned that, while they will survive the apocalypse, if they do not make a choice, they will be the last people standing. Eric and Andrew are convinced that the group is lying and that the attack is motivated by hatred and delusions.
