How to Raise Chickens for Meat - Part 2: Moving them outside

The broiler chicks have been in a trough upstairs for a couple of days, and it is time to move them outside. It is amazing how quickly 100+ broiler chickens can soil the bedding in a trough.

A BIG part of raising poultry is making sure that their environment is clean and sanitary. If you allow their excrement to build up, the gasses produced can cause lesions on the inside of their airways which can then cause secondary infection. It's not good for the chickens, so we try to do everything that we can to make sure they have a clean living environment.
