A sheriff in Florida has challenged a suspect who kicked puppies and threw them in a dumpster to face him if he is "man enough".

The footage shows Sheriff Wayne Ivey of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office issuing an appeal to the public for help in tracking down the suspect, named as Dallas Singletary.

The sheriff also challenged the suspect to turn himself in after he allegedly came across the puppies and dragged them across a parking lot, kicking them as he went, before tossing them into the dumpster.

The police in Florida are searching for the man after he allegedly dragged the two young puppies, which did not belong to him, and kicked them before throwing them into a dumpster.

The cops said that Singletary is wanted for animal abandonment and animal cruelty.

Newsflash obtained the footage from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, in the US state of Florida.

It shows the cops holding one of the puppies that were allegedly tortured and thrown in the dumpster by the suspect, with Sheriff Wayne Ivey saying that he believed the suspect was "high on drugs" at the time.

Sheriff Ivey also challenged the suspect to face him, saying that if "you were man enough to do it", the suspect should be "man enough to come and see me".

The sheriff added that the suspect belongs in jail and that what he did to the animals was "despicable".

Sheriff Ivey said that both dogs are now doing well and that one of them has been returned to its rightful owner while the other one is currently being adopted.

The top cop also said that the suspect's girlfriend, who he named as Kristen Willoughy, is also wanted for violating her probation after she was previously arrested for animal cruelty and child abuse.
