It is has been a long journey in the nutritional space for me as an Exercise Physiologist. Individualization and context when it comes to RFF Dietary Patterns has been the focal point of my approach to weight loss and healthy lifestyles. This is tough to say but practically speaking, when the US government has encouraged cereal and juices as part of a healthy diet for multiple years is ridiculous. More than 80% of our population is metabolically unhealthy. Is it due to willpower? Eat less move more? Maybe subsidizing junk is making people metabolically dysfunctional and then the same people who recommend these foods rely heavily on the profits from drugs which mask the symptoms of chronic disease. Nutrition is not designed to be dogmatic or tribal. Nutrition is designed to improve an individual’s healthy lifespan. And that only is achieved by eating Whole Foods that this wonderful world provides. Yes junk food is tasty and can be treats but we do not need to validate or encourage them for nutritional value.
