Astron Corporation progresses Donald rare earth and mineral sands project

Astron Corporation (ASX: ATR) managing director Tiger Brown joins Small Caps to discuss the latest developments at the company’s Donald rare earths and mineral sands project in Victoria.

Donald is considered a tier one globally significant rare earth and zircon resource, totalling 2,634 million tonnes grading at 4.6% heavy minerals for 22.1Mt of contained zircon. It is projected to have a potential mine life of more than 40 years.

Astron is aiming to complete a feasibility study and updated ore reserve for the project during the current first quarter of 2023.

The first phase of the Donald project is targeted for the 2024 financial year and will involve a throughput capacity of 7.5Mt per annum. A second phase is expected to ramp up production to 15Mtpa from FY2027 onwards.
