Snowed In At The Off Grid Homestead

Saturday we got a lot of snow at the off grid homestead. It snowed all night and into the morning. We were literally snowed in at the homestead until I could dig us out.

I shoveled snow all day. This was just about the only thing I did all day. I shoveled the paths to the greenhouse, wood shed, wood shop, goats, chickens and around the off grid tiny house on wheels.

We had some snow throughout the day which turned to sleet. Later that turned to freezing rain. But the snow held.

I shoveled around the car but by then I had run out of steam.

Later in the evening I worked in the wood shop a while. I made a couple beautiful tea lights out of rough pallet wood. These will be in our store for sale soon. You can find our recycled pallet wood products here: http://www.recycledpalletproducts.com

Sunday I had to continue to shovel snow to clear the drive way so we could attempt to get the car out. The drive had to be shoveled all the way up the hill.

The snow plow eventually came and cleared out the lane up to the end of the bordering property but he does not come into our yard at all.

I shoveled snow to make a path wide enough to drive a vehicle through. Finally we broke through.

The little 2 cycle snow blower that I have is not running this year. I will have to take it inside the shop and see if I can fix it. Otherwise this work would not have been as bad.
