Finished Greenhouse Raised Bed & Melanies Surprise

I finished the raised bed greenhouse grow box I was working on and then brought Melanie into the greenhouse to see her potting table and new raised bed.

I built Melanie a barn wood potting bench that she can use to work on the plants while out there. Of course I will also be using it heavily out there.

The potting bench also doubles as a solar battery bench. The bottom shelf holds our off grid greenhouse batteries.

Next I build a large barn wood raised bed for planting beans and peas for winter vegetables. We hope to provide ourselves with some healthy organic foods through the harsh cold winter months.

The raised bed is 9.5 inches deep by 65 inches long and 30 inches wide. This will allow us to have a nice crop of peas and green beans.

I went out to the barn wood pile and cut the boards out there. It was easier to work over there rather than to drag out the large, heavy boards. Then I brought all the boards over to the greenhouse to put it all together.

I had to use the framing nail gun because I ran out of screws but I have a lot of nails. The air compressor is old and tired but it works. I have to manually cycle it on and off or it blows the breaker on the generator.

But I got the reclaimed barn wood raised bed built and managed to man handle it into place. Chris was not with us this day and I did not want to ask Melanie for help because I wanted to surprise her with the potting table and raised bed.

When I got the raised bed finished I called Melanie to come and see what I had built for her.

She loves both the potting bench and the raised bed. I built the potting table at the perfect height for her to work on.
