Experiment ~ Are Tea Lights Safe In Wood Tea Light Holders

I placed a tea light into one of our tealight candle holders made out of recycled pallet wood. I keep the metal case on the candle for safety. Never use a tea light without its metal case.

I lit the candle and let it burn for a while to melt the wax fully.

Later I took some temperature readings with my digital laser thermometer. The temperatures seem to be in the safe ranges for wood.

I did some research on the internet on the melting temperatures of wax and the combustion temperatures of wood. I wrote all my findings in the article listed above.

Once all the wax in the tealight was melted I pulled the tea light out of the candle holder and placed it into my hand. I felt no discomfort at all.

The temperature of melted was is about the same temperature that can be experienced in the air in some countries around the World today. And you do not see trees suddenly bursting into flames on a hot sunny day.

Neither did my hand burst into flames during this experiment.

I do believe that after conducting this experiment wood tea light holders are safe for use if kept in the metal container.

That having been said, I am considering adding a glass tea light holder along with each recycled pallet wood tea light holder that we sell just for the comfort and peace of mind of the user.
