The next day was a sunny day and the solar power battery banks were finally topping off. We have not seen the sun much these days so any sunny day is a welcome relief.

I have a wind turbine hooked up to the off grid battery shed. It is currently connected to a dump load which helps to heat the shed when the wind is blowing. This is perfect because windy days are when I need the heat more.

I spent most of my day working on our new business website. We are going to be selling recycled pallet and barn wood products that we make ourselves at our off grid homestead.

I am hand coding this website. It is a simple site with no flashy things to distract you from the products. I hope to make it simple and easy to navigate. I do not like websites that are so cluttered that you have to search for the product details.

And I am hand coding this site to prevent hacking attempts. Most out of the box ecommerce solutions have already been hacked again and again. Any security flaws are found before people get a chance to close them up.

By hand coding my own shop with no user input, I am eliminating most security loopholes. Also by writing static web pages I am reducing page load times and improving the user experience.

I worked in the off grid wood shop on wheels for a while the next day. I have some coffee coaster blanks that I cut out of pallet wood. They have warped while drying out. This is not good for a coffee coaster.

I tried using the bench planer with terrible results. The wood jumps around inside, getting torn up.

So I made up a frame to hold a coffee coaster blank while I work with the powered hand planer.

This is working nicely for me now and I can fix all the blanks with ease. It also helps me to make them thinner for user convenience.
