Homestead Gardening & Clearing Trees For Second Garden Plot

Our garden is the top priority right now and we are investing all of our energy into that. I am spreading mulch around the plants to retain moisture and stop weeks. I just dropped two trees to clear space for our second garden plot.

Now that most of our first garden is planted I am spreading mulch around the plants. This will retain moisture and prevent weed growth. I hope to continue to build up mulch and compost through the coming season to prevent weeds.

By next year our garden will be looking pretty good I think. I already thing that this year we will have the best garden ever.

Melanie found some garden edging which she put around her herb bad all on her own. She did a nice job.

I was out cutting the two trees to make space for our new garden plot. We do not want the garden to enter the yard area too much so I am planning a second garden plot along the wood line at the edge of the yard. There we will plan corn, peas and beans.

I got one tree dropped, cut up and hauled away but hesitated on the second tree because it was leaning badly toward the solar panels.

I called a friend who came over to help me with my come along and his rope. The tree dropped right where I wanted it.

I ran the chain saw until it ran out of gas before calling it a night.

Someone sent me a tripod with a GoPro attachment in the box. This is so perfect because now both Melanie and I have our own cameras and tripods.

I am really loving the ThruNite battery charger. It charges any combination of batteries from different sizes, voltages and types. It is fully automatic. I love this thing. I am finally able to top off all those odd batteries.
