How To Wire Solar Battery Bank ~ Setting Up Off Grid Solar

The first step in setting up an off grid homestead is to connect your batteries together to give you a larger capacity battery bank.

My batteries are 6 volt golf cart batteries at 225 amp hours. I have to fist connect the batteries in pairs in series to increase the voltage to 12 volts. Then I have to connect those pairs in parallel to increase the available power capacity.

When I connected my golf cart batteries in series I ended up with four 12 volt battery sets from my 8 golf cart batteries.

Next I connected the batteries in parallel. Simply connect all the positive terminals together and then connect all the negative terminals together.

Now you have a larger battery bank. Mine is now rated at 900 Amp Hours.
