On December 6, Trump announced that he was breaking with two decades of United States presidential policy by recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving the US embassy there. He also said the move was "not intended, in any way, to reflect a departure from our strong commitment to facilitate a lasting peace agreement".
