I am tapping maple trees early this year while Chris is getting the sugar shack cleaned up. I am also restoring lead acid batteries for use at the off grid homestead. Read the full article: http://www.thedoityourselfworld.com/articles/article.php?id=11417

I started the day sweeping off my tiny house solar panels so that I could get some power for the day. It had snowed quite a bit overnight and the solar panels were all white.

I also got a beautiful video on this day of the snow falling off the trees in the morning sunlight, which most of you have already seen.

Next I was out in the greenhouse early on this day working on maple tree taps. I am setting up taps and water jugs with tubing in mass production for the maple syrup harvest this year.

I have a lot of trees to tap this year and we are taking this very seriously. I am prepared like never before.

I am also restoring badly sulfated lead acid batteries in the greenhouse using my old Bedini motor. This is a pulse motor which uses the back EMF to pulse high voltage spikes into lead acid batteries. This breaks up the lead sulfate on the plates and restores them into working condition.
