Rework Chicken Tractor & Rainy Day

I am rebuilding the chicken tractor to use it as a permanent home for the meat birds. I was working in the yard today but lightning put an end to that.

In the morning I immediately went out and put some boards on the bottom of the chicken tractor for strength. Then I put on some heavy gauge wire to cover the bottom. This will stop predators from getting to the birds at night.

I plan to put on some handles and wheels as well. I am looking for wheels right now.

I hope to keep the meat birds in the chicken tractor full time and move them around the yard twice a day. This will give them free food from grass and bugs every day and cut down on food costs for us.

I put some no smoke in the old Snapper lawn mower to see if it helps compression. It is a very old machine and badly in need of a rebuild. I hope to get it through this summer and rebuild the engine this winter during the down season.

I hope to reduce oil burning and fouling of the spark plug.

I got the machine running and started to mow the lawn. I cut along the road sides and into the woods on our pathways that we walk on.

But it started to rain and then we had heavy thunderstorms while we were having lunch. I was not able to safely go back outside to put the lawn mower away.

The lightning was very bad. The strikes were many and close by. I did not dare risk moving the lawn mower during this storm so it sat there waiting.

I often wash the mower anyway to prevent dirt buildup which leads to rust so I guess this was a natural wash in a way.
