Planting Edible Hedgerow & Clearing Up Wood Piles

I planted some hazelnuts and blackberries along the road as an edible hedgerow. Later I stacked up my wood under the new shelter.

We are starting to eat from our garden now. We got our third harvest of peas today. Each harvest gives us two meals. We got our first zucchini today as well. We had a couple peppers early in the season but due to cold nights the plants went dormant and so far have never recovered.

And we have been eating salads from our own garden all along. Plus herbs from our own herb garden.

I got some free hazelnut shrubs nearby and planted five of them in the hedgerow by the road. This will give us a bit of a privacy barrier and some food each year.

I also have grapes in the next section followed by raspberries and then blackberries.

We hope to have an edible privacy barrier along the entire edge of the property.

I raked off the moss from the ground behind the wood shop. This will allow the ground to dry out back there.

I am wondering what I can use the moss for. Maybe as a living mulch in the garden or walkways. I have to research and see if the moss can hurt our plants.

I later put some cement blocks down and then pallets on top of them. This gives me a raised platform to store my wood.

Next I stacked up my wood piles. I put two rows of wood down and then a spacer. Then two rows and then a spacer and so on until I was finished cleaning up my wood piles.

I used some pallets as spacers. This gives a lot of air flow under the boards to let them dry out faster.

When the wood is dry I will build shelving in the new wood storage shed to hold the wood neatly and take up less space.

I may put a pallet wood picket fence between the two sheds so I can store things back there or work on wood projects. This will hide the mess while I work.
