Awesome Garden Updates Then Killing Frost In August

We are now harvesting food every day from our garden. The tomatoes are about to turn soon. Then we got a killing frost this very night.

Melanie and I are now harvesting food just about every day now from our homestead garden. This is just past the middle of August and our tomatoes are about to turn ripe in a few days.

Our herb garden is growing nicely and filling out as well.

Melanie harvested some onions and potatoes today. We are now eating zucchini, peas and beans as often as we want. Melanie has been cooking entire meals from our herbs, vegetables and chickens.

But in the very night after I did this update we got a killing freeze. This was not expected. This never happens in August, even here.

The weather was saying it would be down to the low 40s but that is a far cry from 30 degrees in the night.

This area never sees early frost until mid September normally.

But we got a freeze which killed at least half of our garden, if not more. We will find out as the day progresses and we see the extent of the damage as the plants die down.
