About The Wasp Sting That Put Me In The Hospital

I got stung by a single paper wasp the other day which put me in the hospital. I explain what happened and show the nest where the wasps live.

I have lived in peace with paper wasps for years now with no problem. I have never been stung by anything before now.

There was a paper wasp nest on the corner of the house all year and they never bothered me until recently.

I have been walking past for days and recently they have been attacking my hat. I did not think anything of it though because they would hit my hat and buzz away. I figured it was by mistake.

Saturday I went out to get my coffee cup to bring in for lunch and did not have my hat on. A wasp hit me in the head fast and hard.

At first I did not feel the sting but quickly ran back inside the house.

The moment I got inside the pain hit me. It felt like hot acid pouring over my head. I had pain down my face and neck.

The pain receded some and I sat to eat my now cooling lunch. But then the itching came. It was hot and intense. My feet and head were the worst.

Melanie and I rushed to the pharmacy in town. My phone does not work out here at all. We have AT&T here and get no reception at all at home.

I had to go to town for help.

I took two benadryl and sat down to see what would happen. I started to get very dizzy and lose my vision. That is when I had the pharmacy call an ambulance.

I went through hot flashes, numbness, tingling, itching and dizziness all in waves. Each wave would come and go with another wave following.

The ambulance put some drugs in me and then I got to the hospital where they pumped a lot more drugs in me.

I made the live video at the hospital then. I had no idea how bad I really looked until I later saw the video myself.

A few hours later I was looking and feeling better so they released me with some prescriptions.

I am on three different medications right now for the next ten days. The medicine takes away the symptoms but makes me dizzy and a bit fuzzy in the mind.

I sprayed the paper wasp nest two times so far with Raid wasp and hornet killer. Each morning when it is below freezing I hit them. Somehow there are still wasps returning to the nest though even today.

Melanie and I are walking very wide and far around the nest until they are all dead.
