Working On Off Grid Shed Wood Stove & Shopping Today
Winter is on its way fast so I am working on the off grid battery and water shed. I am going to install the US military tent stove in the shed. This is a multi fuel stove which will make it perfect for the tiny house water shed.
It was raining all day so we went shopping in the morning. Around here shopping is a half day event because we are so far from anything so rainy days are the best for that.
We did our rounds and I picked up some stove pipe and fiberglass insulation for the shed.
I plan to put styrofoam insulation in the ceiling of the shed to act as a vapor barrier and then add the pink fiberglass insulation. But I could not afford the foam for now. I have to wait for the next pay check for that.
On the way home from our shopping trip we found a yard swing out for free and we put it in the bed of the truck. This is an awesome yard swing. It comes apart and can be used as a bench or a swing. It also folds flat and can be an outdoor bed. It comes with a futon type mattress pad which makes it comfortable. The mattress was stored inside and is in very good shape. We can also use the mattress for camping trips.
I worked on the off grid tiny house water and battery shed a bit after we got home. I cleaned out the corner where the wood stove will go.
Then I pulled out the US Army tent stove that someone sent me about a year ago. I never got to install it yet because I was behind on my projects last year.
This stove is pretty versatile because it uses diesel, gas, jet fuel, wood and coal to heat with. It comes with all the adapters and attachments you could ever need for each type of fuel.
I do not have a jerry can around though so I cannot use it with the liquid fuels. The adapter fits a military jerry can. I will have to either get one or make another adapter to fit.
For now I will try it using wood for fuel to heat the off grid water and battery shed. This will hopefully keep the water tanks and plumbing from freezing and keep the batteries in top working order.
After setting up the stove I discovered that it comes with stove pipe but they are four inches and all I have around are six inch pipes and fittings. I have to go back to town and get the proper roof flashing to fit these pipes.
