Building Shelving ~ Winter Gardening ~ New Farm Truck

I continued my work on the greenhouse shelving until I got them fully built while Melanie did some winter greenhouse gardening. Chris is working on the old truck in the back of the meadow.Show more

It was getting dark out but I kept working until I got the shelves finished in the off grid greenhouse.

I have an old walk in two sided greenhouse frame which did not last a single year. The plastic film biodegraded within 6 months and fell apart on me. But the framing and shelves are still fine.

I pulled apart the two halves, making two sets of shelves. I built a frame on top of the raised bed lettuce box in the front of the greenhouse windows. I used all recycled barn wood from out barn wood pile.

When I had the raised frame done I assembled the shelves on the frame and had a look at my work. I believe this will maximize the use of our greenhouse windows from top to bottom.

I will be looking for some similar type of shelving for the other side. I also hope to build another raised bed box like the lettuce box.

Melanie was working on the garden, watering the plants and cleaning out dead leaves while I built the shelves.

Outside Chris was working on the old truck we have out back. I had originally wanted to borrow this truck. Actually I had my eyes on this truck for about a year now. Finally my friend let us have it for scrap price.

It needs a couple hundred dollars to make it road worthy but for now its going to be a good farm truck for us.

When we got it home Chris found out that it needed a transmission mount. The previous owner thought that third gear was gone because it made horrible noises when he drove it.

Sadly Chris just let me know that the seals are out as well due to the truck being used with a bad transmission mount.
