I finished the test burn of the military tent stove and then installed it into my off grid battery and water shed. Read full article: http://www.thedoityourselfworld.com/articles/article.php?id=11515

I filled the stove up to the top with fire wood, closed the doors and let it burn to see how long it would burn. The stove burnt about 3 hours but kept radiating heat for about 5 hours. This should be enough heat to get me through a cold winter night in an insulated battery shed.

The shed will be fully enclosed and insulated to protect my water and batteries from freezing at night during the long cold winter.

The batteries power my off grid tiny house on wheels. My only source of power to recharge the batteries out here are my solar panels.

I found a through the ceiling box that I planned to adapt for use in my battery shed.

Next I put the tent stove in the battery and water shed and lined it up under the rafters where I want the stove pipe to go through. Then I cut a hole through the metal roofing for the stove pipe.

Next I pushed three of the six sections of stove pipe through the roof so I could line up the shielding box.

I fastened the new box that I made up onto the rafters inside the shed, sliding it up the stove pipe.

Next, with the help of Chris, I added the other three sections of stove pipe and then pushed the entire thing down onto the M45 military tent stove.

The final thing was to add the spark arrester on top and tie down the included ropes.

The stove was ready to try out.

I lit up a fire and it roared into life. The stove burnt so hot that I was actually scared. The temperature of the stove first went off the range of my digital thermometer while the stove pipe was around 600 degrees F.

After the fire burnt down a little I got it under control and the temperatures sunk to a more comfortable level for me.

I have to seal off the stove leaks in order to control the fire and temperature better.

I think that I can make this work in my off grid shed.
