Off Grid Homesteading ~ Helping Friends ~ Packages Arrived

We spent the day out helping a friend so we did not get home till later. I spent the rest of the time working on the homestead. Some packages arrived today.

We were gone all day helping out a neighbor so we did not get home till about 3:30 in the afternoon. This did not leave us much time to work on the off grid homestead because it already gets dark about 5:30 these days.

I ran the freezer all day on the solar power system. It is working fine during the day but take a long time to freeze the water jugs I put inside so I shut off the freezer at night to save power on our off grid battery banks.

When the freezer is done running full time I will probably be able to run it 24/7 on the solar battery banks.

Our greenhouse is looking good. It is nice to have a place to go where there is life and growing plants and food when outside everything is dead or dying. The greenhouse is also very peaceful for some reason.

Some packages arrived for us today. Melanie and I both got a pair of work gloves. We also both got some turtle fur neck warmers. Both will be very helpful out here this coming winter.

And another package contained two new Ryobi batteries for our cordless power tools. This was a very nice surprise since our batteries have run down through the two years we have used them. And we use them very heavily out here at The Off Grid Project.
