Rainy Day Gardening & Off Grid Wood Working

Melanie and I are still working in the garden when weather permits. We have to work in the early morning hours these days due to extreme heat and humidity during the day.

We got our very first garden harvest today. We have been eating lettuce and herbs all along but I mean from the main garden. We got enough peas for a stir fry dinner, which we later ate. Melanie made a video of the dinner on her own channel.

We have mulch on our garden so there are very little weeds this year. The mulch reduces weed growth and retains moisture. A double benefit for us.

It rained most of the day so I worked with the laser burner in my electronics shop and burnt some images on wood. I am experimenting with driftwood right now but it is hard to burn properly.

Later after it cooled down some I set up fence posts and an electric fence around the new garden plot. Something has already started to eat the buckwheat that I put in the other day. The electric fence will effectively stop deer at least.

Next year I hope to close in the garden plots with fine mesh chicken wire to stop rodents from eating our garden. The ground squirrels are the worst problem that we have this year.
