Why we get mad--and why it’s healthy
Getting mad, or feeling anger, is a natural and healthy emotional response that serves an important evolutionary purpose. It is a signal that something is wrong, and it motivates us to take action to protect ourselves or to address a perceived injustice.
Anger is a normal human emotion that is triggered when we feel threatened, frustrated, or powerless. It can help us to set boundaries, communicate our needs, and stand up for ourselves. It can also motivate us to make positive changes in our lives or in society as a whole.
However, anger can become unhealthy when it is expressed in harmful or destructive ways, such as through violence or verbal abuse. It can also be harmful if it is constantly suppressed or denied, which can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, or physical health problems.
