Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed a new paid subscription service for Facebook and Instagram called "Meta Verified." This new feature will allow users to obtain the coveted blue checkmark next to their profile name, which is typically reserved for verified accounts of public figures, celebrities, and businesses.

For a monthly fee of $11.99 on the web and $14.99 on iOS, users can now gain the legitimacy and prestige that comes with a verified profile. The service is set to launch first in Australia and New Zealand this week, with plans for a wider rollout in the future.

This move comes shortly after Twitter released its own paid service, Twitter Blue, which offers a similar feature allowing users to get a verified profile and other benefits. It seems that both social media giants are recognizing the value and importance of verified accounts and are now offering it as a paid service.

Stay tuned for more updates as Meta Verified rolls out in Australia and New Zealand, and we'll see if other countries follow suit.
