Episode 15 of our Baseball Game Retrospective Series
Solo Arcade Let's Play
A solo Let's Play done by the co-star of Vespor's Retro Reviews, Ramsis, (along with the star of our show, The Vespor doing commentary during this playthrough as well) showing gameplay of the 16-bit SNES game known as "Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball" created by the owners of the Seattle Mariners, Nintendo. This is our fifteenth game in our baseball retrospective.
This is a classic amongst baseball games. Anyone who is anyone who owned a SNES in the mid 1990s knew of the game Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball. It was the must have and impressive arcade standard baseball game that everyone went to at the time. As everyone knows in 1994 we didn't have any actual baseball to watch due to the strike, at least we had t his game to play to hold us over. And it held us over and then some.
With so many options and features unique to baseball games at the time. Funny animations and easy to play mechanics. It was a game that even non-sports fanatics can enjoy. The game only had the MLB license so there was no actual player names, just teams, stadiums and division and event names found here. But with the editor mode, you could fix that easy enough by adding in all the missing names yourself or create your own names and have fun as you like. Full of league modes, All-Star and home run derby, there was a lot of functionality and replay to be found here.
One of the best but you already know that. This is a definite and must have in any baseball retrospective. Even if you didn't love the game you do have to appreciate where it's place in history and nostalgia falls.
You know the game, now watch Ramsis have fun explaining it all to you and with theVespor along for the ride, it should be a blast from the past for us to enjoy once more. Here on Vespor's Retro Reviews.
With that all out the way let's once again.. PLAY BALL!
Time to take a look back at this classic once more as you can't have a true Baseball Game Retrospective without looking at this one.
As part of our Baseball retrospective where we take a look at early baseball games as we work our way to the early 2000s by showing some of the more iconic and our favorite games of yesteryear as far as baseball went.
This episode is a playthrough by Ramsis and he will explain some aspects of the game and history as he works his way through a complete playthrough of Baseball. Enjoy!
