1968 Pontiac GTO Rear End Upgrade! #torque

The Big Green Machine is back!! It has been awhile since I have wrenched with Kyle on this torque monster and he called me up a few weeks ago and we discussed options for a new rear end. This 1968 Pontiac GTO has a ton of power and the stock 10 bolt is one dead hook away from making some really bad noises. The engine in this car started life as 455 cubic inches but is now a 464 cubic inches with all forged internals, a custom roller camshaft, Holley Sniper EFI, Kaufmann heads and intake. I'll put it this way.... it is north of 600 horsepower and the 10 bolt is a weak point. We looked at the pros and cons of the Dana 60, Ford 9 inch, and the GM 12 bolt. The decision was made to go with the 12 bolt due to his application and also because it was cost effective. This not a stock 12 bolt, it is built to take some abuse!! it will be fun to break this in and try out the new Mickey Thomspon tires and Weld wheels, but unfortunately we will have to wait till spring when all the salt is off the road. Stay tuned for some full throttle fun!
