CPD On Patrol Delta Squad Officer Don Tabor responded to a call to trespass an individual from Walmart.

The suspect attempted to get a refund for merchandise he did not purchase. Store employees recognized the refund scam and called the police.

Officer Tabor arrived on the scene and attempted to engage the suspect, who was not interested in cooperating.

The 57-year-old suspect took off like a track star, breaking the security pedestal on the way out.

Officer Tabor called for backup and reported a foot pursuit. Officer Gaulding sees the suspect and manages to detain him. It was later learned the suspect had warrants for violating probation regarding drug charges. T

The suspect is identified as John Wayne Daniels. He is now facing charges for fraudulent return, resisting an officer without violence, violating probation, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of crack cocaine.

While initially, a simple trespass call involving a retail theft seems to be “no big deal”, the little things become big things if they are not dealt with. Good job officer Tabor and Officer Gaulding for making sure this suspect is held accountable for his criminal activity.
