Amazing Survival Of 77-Year-Old Woman Trapped For 212 Hours

This is the miracle moment when rescuers reach a 77-year-old woman trapped but still alive in an impossibly-tight gap 212 hours after the Turkey quake.

Survivor Fatma Gungor was pulled from the remains of a razed seven-storey apartment block in Adiyaman Province on 15th February.

Footage appears to show her lying on a sofa with the fallen concrete-and-steel floor of the flat above just inches above her head.

It then shows her on a stretcher wrapped in a thermal blanket as rescuers carefully carry her away from the strewn wreckage towards an ambulance.

She was given oxygen via a mask and tube as she was taken to hospital for check-ups.

Her relatives had been waiting anxiously amid the rubble and hugged rescue workers when she was pulled out alive, media in Turkey reported.

The operation was carried out by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Golcuk Naval Shipyard, and Gendarmerie General Command.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the district of Pazarcik in Kahramanmaras Province at 4.17am on 6th February. It was felt in nine more Turkish provinces.

Later that day, at 1.24pm, a 7.6-magnitude quake hit the district of Elbistan in Kahramanmaras Province and was followed by 3,170 aftershocks.

As per the latest update by AFAD, 36,187 have died and 108,068 are injured in Turkey.

Along with more than 5,814 casualties in Syria, more than 42,000 people are confirmed dead.
