VW Rabbit Pickup Restoration Part 6: She's Back In The Shop For More Work And Upgrades.

After failing to find a decent winter project car to flip, I turned my eye's back on the VW Pickup I own. It's original 1.6L gas engine is pretty tired. While it was well cared for, the compression was low, and power was down.
The clutch was also weak, and lastly it's original 4 speed manual transmission was made in an era when 55mph was max legal speed.
Based on all this, I opted to rebuild a 1.8L GTI engine with a few mods to make it a little quicker off the line, and decided to mate this new engine to a later 5 speed with a much lower set of gears so I could enjoy better MPG's as well.
In other words.... Here we go again!
