How To Adjust Shim Type Mechanical Lifters On VW/VOLVO/ and Other Euro Engines.

For those old timers like myself, This was how we made our money early on. Every 30K or as needed, nearly all Volkswagen water cooled engines, as well as Volvos, in both Gas and Diesel, and Mercedes used this old school way of adjusting the valve lash. A shim kit, a set of feeler gauges, and a valve depressor tool were needed, and if you did these often enough, you could make a buck or two by beating the book time.
Enjoy this mostly forgotten skill from a time when engines were built to last.
